Mary's home page
Sussex-based Mary Leay is an exciting new urban folk artist with a timeless and authentic quality both in her voice and songs, once described as the product of an "extra marital affair between Joni Mitchell and Robert Plant."
Leay is a powerful lyricist with an ability to make you feel she's talking to you, and only you. She already has writing and vocal credits on several films including the May 2010 release 'Heartless,' starring Jim Sturgess and directed by Philip Ridley; ‘Forget me Not,’ directed by Alexander Holt and Lance Roehrig; and most recently ‘Just Ines,’ directed by Marcel Grant.
Mary's vocal style and song writing has an authentic and timeless quality. A powerful yet intricate voice, that stops you in your tracks. There is a hypnotic and enchanting element within her vocal, taking you on a journey that rises and falls. There is a rare honesty and vulnerability about her sound, tugging at your heartstrings and keeping you on the edge of your seat waiting for her next breath.
